★ Korean swing dance star in Montreal [21FEB~26MAY, AUG]
JanDi Kim is (one of the most awesome social follows you will ever meet and...) a swing dance star in Seoul Korea and she has been teaching regularly all over Asia for the past few years. As with our own Annie Trudeau, she was an engineer before being introduced to swing and becoming a full time artist. Even though she was a complete unknown in the USA she managed to place third in Blues and Lindy-Hop at ULHS when she visited 3 YEARS AGO!!! In Korea, when you need a pro for TV or a performance for a large public... she is who you call... and... we have the pleasure of having her in Montreal for 3 months leading up to CSC.

Une Star du Swing Coréen à Montréal
JanDi Kim est (une des danseuses lead-follow les plus incroyables au monde et...) une star du swing à Séoul en Corée et enseigne un peu partout à travers l'Asie depuis plusieurs années. Comme notre propre Annie Trudeau, elle était ingénieure de formation avant de découvrir le swing et de devenir une artiste à temps plein. Malgré le fait qu'elle était une complète inconnue sur le continent américain, elle s'est mérité des 3e places au ULHS en Blues et Lindy-hop il y a déjà trois ans! En Corée, c'est elle qu'on demande pour les apparitions professionelles pour les spectacles à grand déploiement ou à la télévision. Nous avons le plaisir de l'avoir à Montréal pour trois mois (jusqu'au CSC) alors n'hésitez pas à en profiter!

◆ Jandi's Dance History

Before becoming a full-time dance professional, I was a fuel-cell engineer for Samsung Research. I discovered how deeply I love swing dancing when I made my first trip to America in 2006. I was determined to get to know the swing dance scene in America, so I packed two suitcases and headed there alone. I had to start making American friends when I got there because I didn’t know any before I left! This trip was an epiphany for me: I discovered how crazy I am about dancing, teaching and traveling. So, when I got back to Korea, I quit my job and started to teach swing full time. I’ve never looked back!

Jandi Kim is one of Korea’s top followers and is recognized around the world as a top swing dancer and instructor. In addition to her busy schedule in Korea, Jandi finds time to study and teach with the best swing dancers in the world. Most recently she has taught lessons and workshop series with our good friends, Peter Vawter, Thomas Blacharz and Max Pitruzzella.

◆ Why I come here?

I met Jean-Francois Didier in Beijing through Leru two years ago. Didi and I performed an improvised dance at a jazz concert in Korea last year. After that, we reached an agreement that I could do more teaching, performance and dance teams as well as participate in the CSC from here in Montreal.

At the same time, I'm really glad to meet up with my friends again in Montreal: Alain Wong, Alain Fragman and Eric Bertrand. I did my first competition with Alain Wong: the two of us have been dancing and in communication for 6 years.
I had the pleasure of meeting Max & Annie in Korea 2008; soon after that, we put on shows together in Hong Kong and I taught workshops with Max in Korea. :)
